I have no doubt the Rams are operating under the understanding that Bennett is a non-entity for them and will go forward as though he wasn't an option.
I know the Rams are good about respecting a players' privacy. On the other hand, being completely silent on this bizarre situation allows for rampant speculation that may or may not be anywhere near the mark, so in this case I question their approach.
I get this feeling that he is battling through whether or not he wants to play football any longer. He may have accomplished all that he wanted to, and the cherry on top was simply to get drafted. I remember when that LB for the Niners had a great rookie year and then just quit football citing concern over the risk of possibly getting a head injury. Whether that was just an excuse or not, the bottom line is he didn't want to play football any more. Fair enough.
I have a granddaughter who was a really good High School Volleyball player. She was pursued by Div 1A college teams. She just suddenly decided she didn't want to play any more and didn't take any of the offers. She doesn't seem to have ever regretted her decision.
Could that be Bennett? It's certainly fine if that's the case. But I think he would be doing himself a favor if he revealed what is going on here. Life doesn't happen in a vacuum and especially it doesn't for a nationally known player like himself.
