He was in his car taking nap and was shot to death when they started to try to rob him. It was a robbery and one of the two robbers decided to pull the trigger.
He was found many days later, I believe he was found in the woods.
It had nothing to do with gambling, it was just a robbery/carjacking gone awry. The two guys in loved didn't know who he was until the fact.
