I think the writing is on the wall. The Rams have indicated (I think they said it out loud) that they are pointing to 2024 as when they are going to be ready to make a Superbowl push again. The 2023 results no doubt told them they are right on schedule.
So, they will go to FA find an edge to go with Young. And, if they keep their 1st round pick, they'll go CB because there will be some good ones there at 19. Despite anyone's ranking of where QBs fit on a scale of including other players of other positions, QBs always get pushed up. So I'll be 3 QBs are gone, maybe 4, by the time the Rams pick that will push down some other talent.
The reason I think this is something I said in another post: Edges take a year or so to develop if you give them enough play time. But, a top CB can step right in and do OK from day 1.
FA will tell us a great deal about what the Rams will do in the draft. If I'm right and they go get a top notch Edge, then it seems a slam dunk they'll go CB in the draft in round 1 and who knows, maybe round 2 as well because other boards I've looked at say there will be some likely year 2 starters (but year 1 contributors) there as well.
I would not be surprised to see the Rams spend a little more on QB2 by going after a vet (maybe even Wentz), and a little more on a kicker by signing a vet because a good kicker would have provided the Rams with at least 1 more win this year. Or they could spend as much as a 5th rounder in the draft if they really really like a college kid.
