Re: 5th year option vs known value in player trade

January 28, 2024 09:25AM
I tend to agree with the notion that the Rams value where they are on the board doesn't exactly scream to make the pick. Other than some of the WRs, as of now.
That will change with the all star bowls, and combine.

I could see Les acquiring another team's star.

The impact of being able to use a 5th year option makes that 1st valuable, but they have to hit on the pick.
For instance, the guys currently coming on the options from an earlier draft?

Micah Parsons
Patrick Surtain
JaMarr Chase

Well spent $$

Sewell, OT
Slater, OT
Kyle Pitts TE
Waddle, WR

Look like worth their contracts

The rest of the non QB guys aren't that exceptional.
But plenty are worth the option
From that same draft there's guys you could have passed on for sure, in hindsight.

I wouldn't mind having one of the WRs from this draft. Also, it sure appears wise to think OL, too
I sure the 2 groups scouts have some real opinions.

Pro Personnel vs College
Might be some superb debates going on with the front office right about now.

It's 60/40 that Snead trades the 1st rounder for a vet player

If you like several QBs trade down and get a QB
