I, for one, thought he might not after being passed over for so many years. I saw it at less than 50/50.
It was not an issue of whether he should or should not be hired as an HC or whether he would succeed.
But, good for him. He really wanted it, and now he gets another shot.
I imagine the Rams players all pulled for him to the get the gig, so they won't be lamenting his loss in a bad way.
Who might replace him? I don't know if McVay feels he has his replacement on his staff. He has no hesitancy to go outside the organization, often because that person brings in a fresh perspective. As always, the guy will have to exude positive energy. But, he is also going to have to be a darn good strategist and work within McVay's overall concepts of a what a D ought to do.
I thought for sure that if Morris left Henderson would get the role. But considering what Henderson did take, it makes me feel like he didn't think he would get the promotion if the job came available.
