Re: Young and Kobie, and maybe Hampton, Mathis?

January 16, 2024 01:13PM
I expect a potential breakout (if that's the right word) performances from both of these no-longer rookies.

We've only seen a little bit of Hampton (another Rams undersized-overperformer draftee)and don't know - yet - what we have in Mathis, whose development got hiccuped coming out of camp by injury. Mathis intrigues me. He's had a year to soak up whatever he could, has the size and athleticism for the position but only the coaches know how quick a learner he is. and we have no clue, really, as to the fire in his belly and how motivated he is to succeed at this level.

Early-on I was intrigued by the pick and want to know more. He could become another player who has a breakout second year. Snead identifies and drafts these types, as happened to answer our O line anxieties then year we went to the Super Bowl.

If the Rams don't draft or break the bank in FA for an edge I'mnot going to pronounce them crazy, but assume they know something we don't.
