I think a decision to go for it is not an "easy" one to make. Your near mid field and you need 14 yds for a first. You don't want to risk a missed FG from that distance thus handing the ball over to Goff near the 50yd line. 14 yds on the most important play of the game is not something I relish especially when your most reliable receiver Puka just got blasted on the prior play. I'm sure the thinking was punt and hold them deep in their territory. Real deep ! Then you likely take over near the 50 with now 4 downs to drive close enough for the winning FG. That type of analysis is not out of the question. Saying otherwise is simply after the fact and the proverbial "Monday Morning QBacking" And I'm not saying going for it on 4th down would have been a bad decision either. Just saying the decision was not easy and had to be made in a timely manner.
