I don't like the stories linked above in the other posts, particularly the dog one. But the Raiders have always been an unruly, edgy group, both them and their fans. And what matters most in this league is wins.
He's 2-0 and that win over the Jets was very impressive. The toughness and fight that team is showing now is due to him. He has good instincts with his players, as shown by benching Jimmy G right out the gate. Players have his back.
Leadership's a strange thing. There's guys who are quite good at it who are on that edge of what is acceptable, and some of those have been the best leaders I've encountered in my career. It's all about getting a roster going in one direction with full buy-in.
Where I think Bowlcut has screwed up is his front office. Feels like he's more about making social statements than winning, but could be he's got the right folks in charge. Beauty of this league is if you aren't up to snuff it's gonna show quick, so we'll see. But I can't knock what they have going since axeing McDaniels.
