The Los Angeles Rams will be in Green Bay this weekend for a Week 9 matchup with the Packers at Lambeau Field. The Rams are trying to snap their two-game losing streak, which is half as long as the Packers’ four-game skid entering this matchup.

This one will once again be a road matchup for the Rams, who haven’t won at Lambeau Field since 2006. However, Los Angeles will be facing one of the worst offenses in the NFL, which is tied for the fourth-most interceptions in the NFL.

Here’s a preview of this Sunday’s game with seven stats and facts to know.

1

Packers have lost 4 in a row, scoring 20 or fewer points in each

The Packers are on a dreadful streak right now, losing their last four games. The offense has been particularly bad in that stretch, scoring 20, 13, 17 and 10 points and gaining more than 285 yards only once. Jordan Love has struggled badly in his first season as a full-time starter, as he’s averaging only 213 yards per game through the air.

2

Packers have 4th-most interceptions in NFL this season

In just seven starts, Love has already thrown eight interceptions. As a team, the Packers’ eight picks are tied for the fourth-most of any team in the league, consistently turning the ball over on offense when trying to throw it. The Rams only have four interceptions in eight games so far this season, so they haven’t been very good taking it away, but this is a good opportunity for them to turn the Packers over at least once. Love has thrown a pick in five straight games.

3

Rams have lost 3 straight to Packers, 8 of last 9

The Rams have had very little success against the Packers lately. They’ve not only lost three straight to Green Bay, but they’ve also dropped eight of their last nine. Sean McVay has yet to beat Matt LaFleur, with his last win against the Packers coming in 2018 before LaFleur was hired. Amazingly, the Packers have covered the spread in nine straight games against the Rams. All-time, the Rams are 47-49-2 against the Packers, with this being the 99th meeting between these teams. The total point differential is close, too: 2,258 for the Packers, 2,244 for the Rams.

4

Jordan Love leads all QBs in intended air yards

Love is throwing a ton of interceptions, but he’s also pushing the ball downfield and taking chances with deep shots. According to Next Gen Stats, Love leads all quarterbacks with 9.4 average intended air yards. That means on average, his passes are traveling 9.4 yards through the air. For comparison, Matthew Stafford is eighth in that category with an average of 8.4 intended air yards this season. Love also has the worst air yards differential (-3.8) of any quarterback in 2023, so he’s not completing many passes down the field despite throwing those passes a bunch.

5

Rams and Packers are the 2 youngest teams in the NFL

There will be a lot of youth on the field Sunday afternoon. According to Spotrac, the Rams and Packers are the two youngest teams in the league right now. The Packers’ average age is 25.19 years, slightly younger than the Rams, who have an average age of 25.73.

6

Rams are 5-13 all-time at Lambeau Field

It’s been tough sledding for the Rams when they visit Lambeau Field, which they first did back in 1958. Since then, they’re only 5-13 against the Packers at the historic venue, with only one of those wins coming since 2000. The Rams have lost five in a row at Lambeau, with their most recent win coming in 2006 – a 23-20 victory led by Marc Bulger against Brett Favre.

7

Rams and Packers are tied for fewest takeaways in football

Neither the Rams nor the Packers have been very good at taking the ball away this season. They each have only six total takeaways, which is tied for the fewest in the league. The Rams actually rank last in takeaways per game since they’ve played eight games this season, with two fumble recoveries and four interceptions. The Packers also have four interceptions and two fumble recoveries.
