Were the Ram's aware of that when they let him go..... that he would get a huge contract?
That Colt's offer was mind blowing but I don't think anyone expected that much of an offer. Not the Rams or Gay's agent. So I would imagine Gay would've taken less since he had no idea what that the Colts would offer the biggest contract ever for a kicker.
As I said, I don't recall us even making an offer to Gay, do you? It's like we just said "Oh well, we can't afford him" or "nah, we don't need him".
As for the cap hit, there are ways around that by structuring the deal low in the first year and getting larger as the contract goes on so I am not buying the "we couldn't afford him" argument. If they really wanted him, they would have found a way to make it happen IMO.
We didn't even try to sign Gay.
#HelmetHornsMatter
“Well, the color is good, I like the metallic blue,” Youngblood recently said while laughing, via NFL Journal. “The horn is terrible. It looks like a ‘C.’ When I first saw it on the logo I honestly thought it was a Charger logo.
“Now when I see it on the helmet, it just isn’t a ram horn. There is no distinct curl like a mature ram horn. I don’t know how the Rams could get that wrong. That is your symbol and it has been for what? Seventy years or more? Longer than I have been alive? It’s just not us, it’s not the Rams.”---Mr. Ram Jack Youngblood
