The problem is McVay's schemes rarely put the running backs in open field where he would shine.
The whole thing with Evans is just weird… maybe he fumbles too much in practice and McVay just doesn’t trust him or he just isn’t in his playbook as much as he should be?
The other thing I would add as to a reason why McVay went with Henderson and Freeman is pass-pro.
As you referenced, though sacked only twice yesterday, Stafford was under heavy pressure. The only reason why he didn't go down more was:
A) he did a good job side-stepping the rush; and,
B ) both Henderson and Freeman were EXCELLENT in their pass protection.
