Play seems safe for two reasons ...
O linemen lay a foundation and absorb impact by diving DOWN IMMEDIATELY
LBs going over the top don't have their feet in the ground while the QB is rooted by who's pushing him.
Antidote?
Take your guys off the line by a yard. Are you ceding a 1st down once? Likely.
The O linemen will have to take a step before diving or the Dline will be the ones jumping over the top. If they take a step, they have to come out of their stance upward.
If they come out of their stance upward, the defense can get beneath them.
So ... they either expose themselves to D linemen before they can "lay the foundation" or they expose their QB to D linemen going over the top.
The O linemen, diving, can only reach about 1-1.5 yards ... so let'em. They can't reach our feet. Then if someone goes over the top they can meet AD and BB3 ... see how many of those hits Hurts wants to take.
