It can be done. I think ownership wanted a faster playing surface. They got it - and got the lower leg injury rate that goes with it.

Couple that with what ponder about strength and conditioning training that maybe isn't up to the task, and you've got... a Rams team that is crippled up and about to face Philly on their home field - on a surface that could be a factor in more injury.

Any commercial ag grower worth his saly could outline the steps neccessary to tear up and remove the present playing field, seal the underlayment off if neccessary, installla drainage layer, soil, and turf - and irrigate it with roll-out sprinkler systems, possibly equipped with grow lighting above the sprinkler frameswork.

Problem: It'd cost money to design, install and maintain.

Solution: Write the checks.

The return on investment is there - weigh the losses from multimillion dolllar salary of player whose injury is exacerbated by playing surface, revenue loss from depressed viewership, playoff appearances, etc., against the cost of planting and mowing the grass.

Retractable roof stadiums are maybe THE biggest waste of money.
