I feel horrible for Chubb.
I also feel nothing but seething rage for the deliberately targeted cheap shot that put him in excruciating pain, and likely ended his career.
The hit wasn't illegal, just cheap and dirty - and to my eyes, deliberate.
I watched and re-watched the video of the hit several times. Even in bam-bam game-time speed, Minkah Fitzpatrick makes the dive for Chubb's knee
after Chubb is in the grasp, not going anywhere, and is on his way down. Fitzpatrick has the choice to pile on, put the finisher on the stop, or dive with his shoulder targeting the knee.
The Steelers need to quit making excuses for Minkah Fitzpatrick and the league needs to take action. What the league does will send a message - either this kind of play has the league's tacit approval, or they want to eliminate it.
