For all of the time I watched Jefferson his glaring fault was his refusal or inability to go after contested catches, much less win one occasionally.
Beyond that, he's fast, but appears to run at one speed in games. Speed by itself without deception, when the DB's are within a whisker of being as fast as you are, is a limited asset.
I remember in the Super Bowl - he ran out from under a ball in the end zone he could have high-pointed and either caught for a TD or drawn a PI. He was gently coached on the sideline not to do that - not to run out from under a ball like that.
OK... flash forward to '23 camp. He's seen on tape high-pointing a couple. Whew, I think - he's being coached to get this done in games, translate that skill to going after contested balls. Body control, using the body to screen off defenders, will come next. I'm relieved, and optimistic.
Then yesterday he stops and tries to high-point a ball when he's wide open, a spot-on beautiful Stafford ball that he could have easily caught in stride at eye level, and converts a sure TD into an incompletion.
Sheesh.
If you're his position coach, what do you do? Same question, DC? Head coach? GM?
