If a player is injured by another player on a blatant intentional foul, the player who injured the other player should be forced to sit out, without pay, for as long as the injured player is out. Oh, and I think he should still count on the 53 man roster.
I know it is practically impossible, but cheap shots like that have to have a steeper penalty. The game is already dangerous enough without bad actors making it worse. Poor Witherspoon is a talented CB who has had bad injury luck. To get injured on a punk-ass play like that is definitely adding insult to injury.
I am waiting to see that the NFL's response is to this play. I agree that a suspension is warranted, but more likely it will be a $15K fine or something that will mean nothing to DK Incognito Metcalf.
