... and our noses bled.
It's part of the fun! And as I read the speculations here I'm led to these conclusions:
We're looking at new run blocking assignments. Zone blocking (run blocking) is a different skill set tha pop-out-of-your-stance-and bash-the-guy-in-front-of-you (run blocking) etc.
Boom is a quandry to me; a dilemma. Let's assume, for whatever reasons (and we don't know them all) that he's actually the best player to start (if he does) at right guard. However:
I'm assuming they brought Big Dot in for more than one reason; that he's not slated to sit on the bench all season, and that he's a projected starter when he gets the lingo and assignments down.
To say that Big Dot is "good" at run blocking doesn't say what kind of run blocking he's good at.
To say that Boom " "
To say that Anch " "
I think part of our muddled consideration is that the coaches know which specific skill sets, techniques, these guys are best at, and what they want to put into the offense game plan, and which players have the specific skill/technique set to implement that plan - and we don't.
I'm itchingly-antsy curious to find out what they have in mind tomorrow. I only wish they'd have got this all figured out a lot sooner. An O line needs time playing together to gel. I look for a much improved O line after week 5, and a strong finish after the week 10 bye.
