Perhaps he was the one most dissatisfied with his OL options?
Specifically at RG? Anchrum or Boom or whoever? (Thomas).
Surely Rams wouldn’t acquire Dotson without big support from coach Wendy?
If they really respect coach Wendy's opinion when it comes to "evaluating" talent, I would think they would listen to whatever he has to say.
This also could be a McVay thing all on his own. He makes the final say on everything IMO, especially since he decided to not retire and came back to coach again. Look how he fired some of Morris's coaches.
I am leaning towards this mainly being a McVay decision based on seeing a lack of talent on the OL. He sees it every day in practices and scrimmages. We only had to suffer once a week for the last 3 weeks! lol
I am hoping McVay wants to be more physical this year and maybe we see a change or "tweak" in his philosophy and emphasizing the run more.
To do that, you need bigger, more physical, experienced OL than what we have. I don't think McVay wants to wait years for them to "possibly" learn or grow into the position.
I am ok with this move right now because I have not seen him play a down yet as a Ram but I do know the OL had to be addressed in one way or another.
Are they done yet? Do we see more OL moves? Who knows, but if they do, it will tell us even more about how they feel about our current OL.
My question is shouldn't we have addressed this OL issue sooner? Could they not see just how bad Brust and the others were during OTA's, practices and scrimmages???
The answer is obviously NO. I blame a lot of that on the lack of live tackling during practices and scrimmages.
But either way, I am glad to see they are addressing this. Now we all have seen with our own eyes how bad our OL depth is and it looks like they have too.
I do not see this as a "sign" the Rams "want" to win this year though. The "plan" is STILL 2024 and beyond. That hasn't changed. To make that "plan" work, higher draft picks sure would enhance the chances of the rebuild going well and quicker.
#HelmetHornsMatter
“Well, the color is good, I like the metallic blue,” Youngblood recently said while laughing, via NFL Journal. “The horn is terrible. It looks like a ‘C.’ When I first saw it on the logo I honestly thought it was a Charger logo.
“Now when I see it on the helmet, it just isn’t a ram horn. There is no distinct curl like a mature ram horn. I don’t know how the Rams could get that wrong. That is your symbol and it has been for what? Seventy years or more? Longer than I have been alive? It’s just not us, it’s not the Rams.”---Mr. Ram Jack Youngblood
