Can he still play, and how well? Even if he's lost a step and can't cover as much ground as he used to, he'll be a heavy hitter/enforcer type that is definitely needed in our secondary. He'll be able to step in and play without a lot of adjusting to the system, albeit the system has evolved since he left.
He'll ned a lot of pre-season snaps to find his place and for the others to adjust to his presence - at least that's what I hope. I look forward to seeing him in action.
He's plug-and-play...he is someone who played left safety in this scheme but also would play the $ backer when they wanted a quicker guy in the nickel and would also play slot when they went pure dime.
So, even, if theoretically, he lost a step, which I doubt...he does not have to fill the slot role in the dime...someone else can do that
As far as the safety and $ backer---I don't see a problem.
I don't know of any injury he had the last 2 years ... guys play until they are far older at safety...you probably
don't need to worry too much on the front you brought up.
