The Rams jersey was no a stripe swen over jersey, it was a panel at the shoulder.
All they needed to do was replace the white panel with a blue one and they
had the stripe.

You top example appears they did that same thing--and it looks right

the bottom one is constructed differently and, as you point out, misses the mark.
