He's trying to keep himself relevant and cover his BS rumors. Demoff wasn't saying that they actually considered cutting Stafford. As Demoff said, his future monies weren't guaranteed (until after 3/17). His point was that there was not the incentive to trade him (to recoup guaranteed money) and that they weren't actively shopping him.
