As usual he again kicks up the dust but contributes very little.
It's not why we hired a kicker; this rule change as currently timed is nonsensical. Why not put it in place after some pre-season trials this year, for 2024 or '25 to give teams a chance to strategize and adjust - and to see whether the new rule is a good idea??
Lile a little kid, I feel like stomping my feet and yelling "No fair!"
For the Rams, maybe we're in better shape to implement it than others.
Here's my vision: Work on many possible variations of the squib kick, other kicks that can't be fair-caught, and get our hands guys and fastest big nasties on the coverage team. Got that picture?
Next: Our young punter, who can power lift two men at once off the ball or bounce one around until he fumbles, handles the squib kick duties and follows the ball to the pile. Kind of a Rugby scrum version of an off-sides kick, every time.
Runbacks would be rare. The mayhem would be fun to watch.
And every now and then we'd get the ball back.
