Was surprised to see Gary Green played only 19 games with the Rams. They gave KC a first round pick for him, IIRC. Didn't realize he had such a short stay.
Loved that Ram secondary -- Green, Irvin, Johnnie Johnson, Vince Newsome, etc. I recall Danny White saying at some point during the 1985 season -- after playing both the Bears and the Rams -- that the Rams had the better secondary. Hi praise considering many consider the 85 Bears the best D of all time.
I didn't know White said that but that is indeed some high praise, isn't it? Irvine, JJ and Newsome were the best of the 4, IMO, but all of them were pretty d@mn good!
I think we could confidently say that as a Franchise, the Rams have had a "storied" history with defensive players!
Sooo many HOF'ers and it's still continues today with AD!
#HelmetHornsMatter
“Well, the color is good, I like the metallic blue,” Youngblood recently said while laughing, via NFL Journal. “The horn is terrible. It looks like a ‘C.’ When I first saw it on the logo I honestly thought it was a Charger logo.
“Now when I see it on the helmet, it just isn’t a ram horn. There is no distinct curl like a mature ram horn. I don’t know how the Rams could get that wrong. That is your symbol and it has been for what? Seventy years or more? Longer than I have been alive? It’s just not us, it’s not the Rams.”---Mr. Ram Jack Youngblood
