McVay has tried to get TE on track. He was a source TE positional coach, and I realize everyone knows that but he had a great TE in that attack in Washington that got him on the map in the first place. First pick he made I think was Everett, going off my memory admittedly but pretty sure that was the case.
Clearly he has wanted a top TE. Problem is he missed on Everett. He missed on Hopkins. And Higs has been marginal.
The production is simply an indicator of poor talent on that depth chart. Guys who are just not up to snuff for shining in this offense. It also plays into his aversion of 12 sets. I mean why would he line up in 12 when that group for us has big dropoff. And they also missed on Harris btw, so that's three guys intended to juice the pass game from that position that have come up short.
So I think TE has a really good chance of being the position this year. I just hope they take a good one.
