I believe Hooker has the talent to be a staring QB in the NFL. He also seems to be the type of guy that is currently in style, meaning he can use his feet and his arm. He also is mature and has good experience. If he didn't get hurt he probably would have gone in the top 15 picks and most definitely would go in the first round.
If he is there for us in the 2nd round he sure has to be tempting. 1. He solves the backup QB problem. 2. He is the type of guy you could insert into a game for a change of pace thus screw up the defenses game plan. 3. His value could go way up with a year of NFL experience and with his health questions removed. His future value could go way up if he is featured as a change of pace QB and has success. You might get a 1st and a 2nd or 3rd for him.
If for some reason he fell to the 3rd round I think the move to take him will be high and will be a big missed opportunity if we fail to execute to move to take him.
While I can see an pretty good argument for not taking him in the 2nd round if you are in love with a player and it matches one of the need positions you would hope that player has a high floor and ceiling. If you want to play risk game then just take Hooker.
