It was simply pathetic last year, even above and beyond the OL injuries.
RB no doubt will be added somehow, some way. FA, trade, draft, who knows? And if draft, how soon? At this point nothing would really surprise me about their priorities. ESPECIALLY if they trade Ramsey.
Offense currently needs 6 position upgrades:
RB (for future, if nothing else)
Backup QB
OG/OC
TE (depth and 12 sets)
WR (a new #2 to replace AR)
LOT (if Boom is offloaded)
Even assuming that Ramsey is not traded here are potentially 6 upgrade needs on D:
Edge (TWO of them if Floyd is gone)
CB (outside and starter quality)
DL ( TWO of them if both Gaines and ARob are gone)
S (assuming Scott and Rapp are gone)
K (unless Gay is extended)
THAT is a ton of turnover, y’all, for one offseason.
And for most of them, ‘pretty good’ just won’t do. Not if we’re seriously chasing another ring.
A challenge, to say the least, but barely doable with a lot of shrewd trades, FA signings, and a brilliant draft. But there is no margin for error with marginal FA’s or draft picks. No need to name names, but lately there have been too many screwups in both areas. Cough, cough…
