He's got a bum shoulder and clearly could not throw it nearly far enough. Why no run everyone deep and then take off and run. Recievers start blocking immediately and it becomes like a punt return with a lot of room. Hurts is a dynamic runner and you could also have someone speedy in a short route only about 10 yards downfield - who could loop back and trail Hurts to pitch to if necessary. I actually thought he would run, but then he threw that duck to no-one. Sort of a terrible looking last play.
