I agree that the article is silly. JR's season or salary didn't stop us winning this season. Losing our whole OL including the backups did.
If our OL held up we would've had Stafford for the whole season. When we lost Stafford, the Wolf threw a horrible ball to Kupp causing him to get hurt and become lost. Having no OL led to us having no rushing attack. Having no backup QBs led to a lot of other lousy losses.
And our WRs got hurt. Kupp, ARob and Jefferson all got hurt. SKOW filled in and got hurt. Tutu played well and we had our KR going out for passes. Defensively, we lost AD who changes all the timing of an opponent's offense. We also lost the other ARob and Gaines was out a lot. Floyd wasn't healthy. So we lost our whole DLine and best edge rusher.
And the rest of our secondary got hurt. Fuller had the hammy and never made it back. Scott got lost down the stretch. Lake was out all season until the last week. And our CBS were in and out. Jalen played his butt off the whole season. And he did so in this star position. The guy is a shutdown corner and he's playing in a stupid hybrid bend but don't break defense. He lets guys go thinking he has help over the top and doesn't and those guys score and people blame Ramsey. So, the ridiculous idea is to trade the best secondary player we have to get a few average players and hope they gel into great defenders? Nope, the solution is to rescheme and get the CB with the 4.8 40 off the field. Re-sign GG, get a DC who will attack and get DBs who can press. And with all of that being said, with the wrong scheme and some lousy players back there our Rams actually were decent in defense. That's because AD played a few games, JR and Wags had All Pro seasons. And there's one more layer to all of this. Entertainment. AD and JR are fun to watch. AD looks like the Incredible Hulk and does stuff no other DT ever did. And so is JR. He has rare physical gifts and plays with reckless abandon. I enjoy watching him play. At the end there was Tutu, Akers, Wags and JR.
oh, and Mayfield. Who is very fun to watch.
I enjoy watching Scott and Gaines too. Gay is worth a few bucks to see. HAte to say it, but the other guys left standing aren't fun to watch even if they played well. The Chiefs have an excellent squad and easily could win it all. They have one of the best QBs. They have the best TE. Their lines are strong on both sides. They have great coaching. Hill was an elite weapon for them, but not the main reason they are a great team.
