I was thinking that he was going to leave. Especially after reading Albert Breer saying that the Rams had a plan for Rah to become head coach if McVay bailed after the Super Bowl. And how uncomfortable it would have been to have an interim coach for a year, losing another key year for Stafford, AD, Kupp who are not getting any younger. Was "hoping against all hope" that McVay would find a solution that keeps him with the Rams as head coach. I began to think that McVay needed a close sounding board / partner, like Lafleur / Taylor / O'Connell. I think losing KOC (as well as Wes Philipps) was a huge negative to McVay's brain trust, with no time after the SB to hire who he wanted. Thomas Brown hiring Rashaad Samples is the same - McVay delegated that hire but it ended up being the wrong move for the 2022 RB room.
So how does he find another KOC? Does he let Rah go? The good news is that he has time to make decisions and only lost 4 days thinking about it. My ex was a clinical psychologist and he really needs a sounding board (who knows football LOL) whom he can confide in and get his mind straight. Am deligted that he is coming back and looking forward to seeing him make the tough decisions on what coaches to keep and which to let go. Keep Thomas Brown, Coach Henny, but were Chris Shula (LB to def passing game/secondary) and Zac Robinson (QB coach/pass game coordinator) in the right roles?
A rhetorical question - if McVay cuts Rah, do we no longer receive comp picks if he's hired as head coach? My guess is that we do not. Anyone know?
