would be, "will he go back to HIS defensive strategy or continue the Fangio thing?"
I would guess HIS dealio, but that's a new system for the defense, but with the same dude..
My guess is that Morris would likely want a Fangio-style of defense and would hire a DC that prefers to run it as well. Reason-being is that he's had success with it over the past two seasons. And, like with most teams, they'd tweak it to the personnel they have and how they're performing at any given moment.
But I remain curious, though...
What is your (and other's) preoccupation with a defensive scheme and coordinator that's been largely successful over the past two seasons?
I would suggest that the team's problems this year (and last) were squarely on the offense. And wouldn't you agree that the offense has grown...predictable over the past two seasons? Remember, I'm in the GTF with you. You might as well be DeMeco Ryans with the number of times you correctly called that tunnel-screen to Kupp.
Offensively, McVay has gotten into a rut. But he doesn't seem open to coming out of 11-personnel or listening to his assistants that might have an idea or two on how to incorporate a decent rushing attack. I think that a new HC would be more accepting of diverse ideas.
