"After much discussion, deliberation, debate, meditation, prayer...... the Rams have come to a consensus regarding their choice for the first pick of the 2010."
"The Rams are a team in need of several players to get this team to the next level. One player isn't going to be able to do this alone. We're still setting up a solid foundation for this team to build on moving forward. With that being said, we now hand over the mic to our General Manager, Ramsrule, for our selection."
"Thanks Coach....... with two players rated pretty much in a dead heat at the top of our draft board, we've decided to stick to the bigger picture and continue to rebuild this team back into a contender. We're moving into year two of a three year program to turn this thing around. We've weighed the immediate impact that the two players could make, and came away confident that we have chosen the right player.
Without further ado...... with the first pick of the 2010 NFL Draft, the Rams select-
Ndamukong Suh - Defensive Tackle - Nebraska - 6'4" 300 lbs
You just don't pass on one of the best defensive players to ever play his position. He will give us instant credibility on the DL, and will also give the Rams something that they've been missing since D'Marco Farr retired, a physical penetrating presence in the middle of the defensive line that the opposition will have to account for.
As for the other player at the top of the draft board with Suh, the decision not to draft Sam Bradford was not an easy one...... as several media members, and HERD posters have said, it's tough to pass up on the potential face of the franchise. But with the current talent level on our offensive line, it just didn't make sense to take Sam and through him behind these guys. We'll possibly look for another QB in later rounds this year or next year's draft.
