It was started, best I remember, as part of a system of message boards operated by nflfans.com (maybe?). The primary operators went by screen names Quartermaster and Punishment. ScRAM was the Rams board admin when I found the board in the big migration from the Post-Dispatch board.
That migration kind of overwhelmed ScRAM's ability to manage it. He recruited me, Ramsrule, Happy Noodle Boy, and Ram23 in probably 1998 roughly. I resigned as an admin probably in about early 2000 or so? You, and it seems like Shaky and maybe a couple of other admins were recruited I think shortly before I left, because I remember accidentally finding out we have the same birthday when you set up an online email account for the admin team. It threw me off because I noticed that the birthday of the person who registered it was my birthday, but I could not for the life of me remember setting it up, LOL!. Not sure I remember who the other new admins were.
I remember Ram23 trying to copyright "The Herd" before I resigned or about that time, so it's probably been "The Herd Board" since about 2000, or maybe 2001?
Ram23 used to have a fairly thorough history written up and posted online somewhere. I've lost track of where it is, but Ramsrule or Shaky might come along later and know.
