Le Mans and my neighbor

My neighbor-a Brit-was in the original Le Mans movie, done by Steve McQueen. He can be seen in the Ferrari pit crew-tallest person in the scene. He says that Carroll Shelby was -in his words-"the biggest p....in all of motor racing. Of course John works for Ferrari-not only then but still to this day. My closest dive friend owns a Ford GT identical to La Mans. The one that beat Ferrari. The two of these guys go at it over the race that my neighbor (John) says Ferrari should have run.

As I understand it the reason Ford was so mad at Ferrari was that he and Enzo...? (owner of Ferrari motors) had a deal in place for Ford to buy Ferrari. Signed and sealed apparently. But then the Italian government stepped in and bailed Ferrari out of the deal. Pissed off Mr. Ford-hence the focus by him on the race.

My friends GT-I basically cannot get into the thing and if I do its impossible to get out.
