This whole question has been bugging me since James posted it

Being able to separate Greatest Performance from Favorite Performance

and I'm definitely not saying all comedy performances are worth mention , Will Ferrell in Land of the Lost for example

and I'm not slapstick comedy as well

but rolls like Robin Williams in Good Morning Vietnam

Woody Allen in Annie Hall

just as examples

but the problem I keep having with this question is separate Greatest Performance from Favorite Performance

one that is bugging me is

and this is just an example , but listing Humphrey Bogart in Casablanca , but , was Humphrey Bogart any better in that movie then he was in the African Queen or the Big Sleep ( which is probably my favorite Humphrey Bogart movie )

also forgot someone above mentioned Jack Lemmon in The Out of Towners , another favorite of mine

so if the title of this thread would have been Favorites performances of all time , then it would have been easy

But Greatest Performances of all time ...................I'm still thinking on that one
