Congrats, Ramsgator... you're a lucky man... and I am truly impressed.
I've been VERY fortunate in my lifetime. Working for an Air Race team here out of my home town I worked the Reno Air Races for many years... meeting nearly every great pilot that ever lived. Flew with Bob Hoover. Met Chuck Yeager, several times.
Got a ride in a B-17 once. Been up in a P-51 several times. Went up with the pilot who owned the plane I help with, a T-6... and flew a course with him pulling so many G's I grayed-out. Funny thing... I've done aerobatics... flips, loops, etc (not as the pilot)... but you don't really 'feel' those, at least not like putting a T-6 into a tight turn around a pylon.
A private pilot I've flown many different planes... C 182's and 172's... Piper Arrow - Cherokee, but of all those listed, (and there were many more)... my all time favorite was:
A J-3 Cub. Might do 100 with a good tail wind.
Got a 'putt putt' sound to it..... gas gauge was a cork with a wire sticking thru the wing. Why? I think it's because it's the only plane I've flown in that comes closest to giving you a true sense of 'flying'.
I'm sure there are better... but I haven't tried them... like paramotoring, but the J-3 is my personal best. - JamesJM
