Oscars

Not sure why but I totally enjoy watching the awards show. Likely because I'm a movie buff-especially on the big screen in the theater. Speaking of which: There are particular scenes in a movie that resonate with me to the point that I will never forget them. Viola Davis won an Oscar for just one scene in Doubt. If you saw the movie you know which scene-I think its the only one where she speaks. And then there is this year: If anyone has seen "Can You Ever Forgive Me" you know its a true story about a writer who fakes letters from famous people. The writer is played by Melissa McCarthy. One of the most memorable scenes I have EVER seen is when she is facing a judge about to sentence her. Her attorney has given her a script to read from after the judge says "is there anything you would like to say before I pass sentence?" After a few lines she goes off script and... ( I can't explain it-you have to see it). This is right up there with Davis' performance in Doubt as far as a single scene that won't let go of you-ever. I'm sure you can google the particular scene. No need to know the background of the story. Just "feel" her emotions.
