Man, just imagine the passing game w/ less gravity......lol
Think about where we are now, what we have seen.
I still can't believe the shuttle program has come and gone.
Not to mention what our grandparents saw in their lifetime,
from horses and wagons (mostly the norm) to a man landing on the moon.
I truly believe that our grandkids will see that type of development...
So I am now 51... I remember in high school messing with DOS and saying out loud to my friends "I will never own a computer"... I couldn't see what it could possibly be used for except something that only an extreme left brainer would love. I think the commodore 64 was probably out about then. Lame. lol I did much of my work in college on a typewriter... an electronic typewriter with a tiny screen. So sometime as my college years are growing to a close... computers are more user friendly. I bought an Apple Performa 600. I got an Apple because the places I worked that did graphics used Macs. I did so little with it. I didn't know I needed software to go with it.... and it was almost as expensive as the computer was which was about $2000. Its funny when I bought the Apple the salesman was freaking out because for the same price I could have bought the Ferrari of PC's... He didn't get it... but then neither did I. But I knew I wanted to steer clear of DOS and I wanted to be a graphic designer in advertising. Oddly enough, the first real advertising job I got where I did heavy graphic design, they used PC's, lol.
It was the "internet". It changed everything. I probably would have used a computer for work and maybe one at home to play games or something. But the internet changed everything. And then it was high-speed internet. It was like going from bunny ears to cable.
Now I have a phone that has way more power than my first computer did. And its a device that I use all the time... and almost never for the "phone" function...
That's about a 30 year time span.
I expected to see gosh dang jet packs everywhere... where the hell are my jet packs??? come on!
I have some clue as to what the technological future holds but only a a glimpse of different possibilities. Teleportation of some kind? Some for of warp speed or accelerated propulsion? Cryogenics? Flying cars that look like what we want flying cars to look like... not cars that have wings but Jetson-style flying cars.
It could take hundreds of years to put a sustainable colony on Mars. I am betting that there will be something that will be more spectacular within that time-frame. And that thought completely blows my mind.
Probably nothing bigger than going to the moon. Using glorified calculators that they called computers and technology that seems impossibly archaic. Was there even unleaded gas at the time? Was the touch-tone phone being used? Its just such a massive step... or "giant leap" I guess.
