In hindsight...

October 30, 2018 02:24PM
there were many decisions/situations to be questioned.

Why did Ryu start on normal rest on the road (in the cold), where his ERA was triple what it was at home and when he is much better with 1 and even better than that with 2 days of extra rest? Rich Hill could've started game 2 with extra rest and he is from Boston so should be used to the weather.

With the bases loaded and up by ONE run in the 5th, why was Yasiel Puig playing so deep? A single does just as much damage there as a double.

Why did Roberts pull Baez in game 1 when he did? Why didn't Dave Roberts go to Baez in the eighth in game 3? And why was Baez and Urias unavailable in game 4, but Madson was the go to guy even though he pitched in every game to that point in the series?

And yeah, it was a typical Kershaw postseason. Had a couple very good starts and some clunkers. The post season failures are real and are undeniable, and unfortunately it is only going to be more difficult to perform at a high level in the postseason with his diminishing stuff going forward.

And BTW after having said all of this, I still want Roberts back and I bet Kershaw ends up getting an extension with the Dodgers. I have to admit, that if I had to choose between the two, I'd take Roberts at this point. If Kershaw thinks he can/will get a long term contract at 25-30 million a year, I'd just say goodbye if I was the Dodger FO.
