I do wonder sometimes what she thinks about. I wonder if she ever has thoughts about where she was before my wife and I came along.
Sad really,
I have those same thoughts every day, '73, in regards to Gypsie, the little 4 year old Beagle we rescued last year.. She was surrendered to a shelter paralyzed, unable to walk or use the bathroom herself, full of heart worms, hook worms, ear mites, and had apparently just given birth to a litter of puppies.. Noah's Arks Rescue provided the back surgery, which, thank goodness, was successful, allowing her to walk and use the bathroom on her own.. We flew to Atlanta to pick her up and spent several months treating her heart worms and hook worms and ear mites and bad teeth successfully..
Right now she is totally healthy - and we hope - totally happy.. I wonder ever day is she thinks about her previous life, or her puppies that we'll never see, although we would take every one of them, if we could.. I wonder every day during her walks, when she is SO busy sniffing every inch of ground and getting so excited that she squeals out of control, if she's looking for traces of her past life - whether it be her previous owners, Noah's Arks, who were so good to her, or her previous foster family after surgery..
I know I've read that dogs "live in the moment", but I can't help but wonder what goes through her head all day.. Being a Beagle, probably nothing more than "when's the next biscuit coming my way?"
Friendship is like peeing your pants.. Everybody can see it, but only you can feel the warmth..
