We all face adversity throughout our lives. He is young and unfortunately not fully prepared for this situation.
We can only do one thing so that when we look back, we can do it in a way to know we 1) give 100% and 2) learned from the experience.
All he can do is give it his best. As has been said, he needs to leave it all on the field.
Maybe he should make a pre-game speech...a tall order for a 15 year old. Time to be a leader. Tell his team mates that he has done all he can to prepare. Commit to them that they will give his all...they will know he left everything on the field. Ask his team mates to do the same. Tell them that if ever there was a need for a team victory, it is now. Win or lose...it is done together. And when things get tough, we need to dig deeper...anything less than 100% is not going to get the job done.
Afterwards, he needs to know that life is full of these challenges. There will be wins...there will be losses. But, win or lose, we must learn from our experiences because the adversities we face in life grow in importance.
By leaving it on the field, he can look back and know that he did all he can. That is all he can do...and in the long run, he will succeed...just like he did transitioning to WR.
