not just a window.....Giants had an amazing run for those 5 years, but before that......nothing
Dodgers have won 6 world championships, winningest team of the 70s, only team to win 2 world series in the 80s, etc.
That said, its been a while....they could use another championship
never understood how a Rams fan could like the Giants (no offense to you Billy, Joe Jimmy)....to me its like liking the Lakers and Patriots
I guarantee you no Patriot fan likes the Lakers!!! I have lived in Northern California for 35 years and never met a Niner fan who liked the Dodgers
That said, my favorite player of all time was Willie Mays
I chose all of my sports teams roughly around the age of nine. Picked the Rams mostly cuz of Deacon, Merlin, the Gabe and the horns. Chose the Lakers cuz of West, Baylor and then Wilt joined them later. Chose the Giants cuz of Mays. He was a hero of mine before I chose my sports teams, and I associated him with New York, and then they moved west. Loved McCovey and Marichal too, and then Bobby Bonds and others.
In short, the players drew me in first, and their legends. Uniforms and logos helped, and I was just drawn to the two LA teams and the SF team. Couldn't help it. I've remained loyal ever since . . . It's been 50 years.
As you can see, I didn't choose them cuz of the home town thing, being thousands of miles away. I'm one of those nomad fans. Gonna follow them wherever they go, though I hope they stay put now.
The only original pick I ended up changing was Notre Dame. I followed them fanatically for football and basketball until I went to college at U of Maryland. Changed my (college sports) allegiance because of that.
