She also does work for Doberman Rescue.
About 6 months ago she comes up to me and says' Right then I'm off'
"Uh-huh, where you going"
"To rescue a puppy"
"Ok, see you later"
I went back to work thinking she was part of a relay in which people from different stages will ship a Dobie from Palm Springs to wherever.
It's amazing, sometimes they'll have 20 people liaising and arranging to relay a dog 1,000 miles.
She'll usually collect in Orlando and maybe go 70 or 80 miles north to meet somebody else and pass over the pup for the next stage.
An hour or so later she's back.
'That was quick!'
'What was?'
'Your relay, you're usually 2 or 3 hours'
'Oh it wasn't a relay'
'What was it then'
'Some people had reported a family mistreating a Doberman in Pine Hiills'
'Pine Hills? Are you %^*#@# kidding me, you went to Pine Hills???'
'Somebody had to go into the house to take the puppy away"
(gasping for breath, Pine Hills is the roughest are of Orlando) ' And that was YOU?'
'It was fine, there was a guy from animal welfare there too'
'Was he armed? because the only way I'm going into anybody's house in Pine Hills to claim a dog is if I have a SWAT team behind me'
That's when I realized why she hadn't told me where she was going.
There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so.
