a team that didnt even make the playoffs.
In the 2nd half of the season overall the OL played better. Playing badly against a mediocre team does not show that--but playing very well against the NFC champions 2nd ranked defense did show that. If they were "bad" they would be absolutely incapable of doing that against SF. But yeah they were inconsistent and fell off against Dallas (along with the defense).
There were a lot of issues with the offense in 2019, though the OL was a primary one. Still it was better in the last part of the season (the 7 games after the Steelers game). Want some numbers?
Pressures were not the only issue but still it is AN issue.
In the first 9 games, with OL point.one, they gave up 92 pressures, averaging 9.1 a game.In the final 7 games, with OL point.two, they gave up 46 pressues, averaging 6.57 a game. That's improvement.
Maybe they played more teams that could NOT get defensive pressure in the final 7 games? Nope. In the first 9 games, they played 3 teams that ranked bottom 12 in getting defensive pressure. In the last 7 games they played 3 teams that ranked bottom 12 in getting pressure. Same difference.
Does that mean the 2019 point.two OL is finished, done, all put together, ready as is for 2020? No and no one said that. They do though have 5 experienced youngsters to draw on, they can sign AW and Blythe, and they can add to it through the draft.
