Rampage2K-
I think it's pretty clear now why the Rams made the moves they did last year in trading away Peters and trading for Ramsey.
I think McVay had an eye on going with the Fangio style defense for awhile now.....
This defense relies on a secondary that can play both man and zone....we all saw what happened to Peters when he's asked to play man.
It sounds to me like his defense will have elements of both man and zone but leans more towards the zone concepts.

At it’s core, Fangio’s system utilizes pattern matching zone coverage concepts. Often these are split field zone match concepts.
The comments from the players talked more about the excitement of moving to zone coverages than they did about man coverage.

It’s not all on the DBs like it’s been in the past. It’s not all dependent on ‘No Fly Zone’ or locking guys up one-on-one and play man-coverage all game.

The defense that we were previously a part of prided themselves on that [man-to-man mentality]. Just playing straight up, smash-mouth football....There are a lot of man-concepts and a lot of different zone concepts.
I see no reason why a player who may be the best playmaker in the league in zone concepts couldn't fit.
