The hiring of the RB coach who had a relationship with Gurley says he stays

February 10, 2020 04:18AM
Any talk of dealing Gurley has to be at an end after the hiring of this new RB coach that has a personal relationship with Gurley. No doubt that was a substantial part of the equation for hiring him.

It would have made no sense to deal or cut Gurley; the harm to the cap would have been too much. And besides; he is still more than a serviceable RB. Dumb contract for sure. But it's smarter to keep him and use the daylights out of him than the huge cost to send him away both in cap and likely a 2nd or 3rd pick added to get someone to take his contract. But I doubt even that would do it.
