7. COACHING - This season has been abysmal in the coaching department. I honestly can't explain what I'm seeing, but no one is afraid of McVay's offense anymore. More teams will double Cooper and it will be game over, no more moving the ball. No Todd, no Cooper, no Cooks....refusal to use the TEs or employ more of a west coast system, short, quick passing......I just don't get McVay......at all.
I for one get bored with small ball. I like to see a batter crush it over the bleachers. But small ball keeps pressure on your opponent. Home run ball puts more pressure on you. It’s low probability and high return, but constricts your options with the type of swing. No more swinging to spray the ball or stay alive. So, the home run hitter better make darn sure he connects.
McVay needs to learn patience and develop a sense when he’s experiencing pressure and when he’s applying actual pressure. Right now he has no sense for pressure. He’s putting all kinds of pressure on his offense, he’s unaware of it, and it’s totally unnecessary.
