Hav was really good from 2015 - 2018. And his athletic limitations have been what they are for that entire period of time.
So suddenly after 4 years he's exposed? It seems strange.
I had considered the same thing of having him play RG but someone pointed out that at this size he may not be able to do it.
I think they stick with him at RT for at least one more season. He is easily cuttable with little dead money after the 2020 season.
AK already tried Hav at guard. It didn't work.
....
He tried Hav at guard while simultaneously trying Brown at RT. They didn't say why they called the experiment off.
Could it have been that it was Brown that couldn't work at RT? I don't think we know.
That's probably true. We don't know. But if they're not eager to try it, it's because they DO know.
Meanwhile I personally am not worried about guard. Evans is picking things up...and I don't worry about that being coach-speak---we knew Evans was behind earlier on because over the summer Kromer flat said so. So if a player is now picking it up he once said was behind, I don't see any reason to doubt him.
Kromer has a long history of converting tackles to guards, including day 2 tackles taken lower in the draft. They will find another one.
