That was pure surmise. The assumption was that the Rams WOULD extend early. We had no REAL idea what their thinking was when it came to that. In a situation where the team gives no clues either way about its intentions (which was the case last year), fans are free to make up whatever it is they want to see. Which is mostly what was happening.
Now though the Wentz signing has prompted the Rams to be a little more vocal. And I have to say, I have never seen a situation where a team misleads its own qb about whether it wants to given them a big 2nd contract extension. Have you? When a guy is on probation they let it be known.
Right now the indications are they will sign him and the people suggesting they won't sound very much like that's what they WANT to see, without anything valid or real to go on.
