I love when a player looks bad and the “played hurt” excuse gets rolled out.
I saw fletcher cox play on one leg and still play 10 times better than the played hurt Brockers.
99% of these guys are playing hurt.
I saw Brockers jump offsides like a rookie in the NFC championship game and give the Saints a first down that led to a TD. But let’s roll out the played hurt excuse.
I saw McVay call out Brockers, saying “how many times are you gonna ask the same question that you know the answer too, Brock”?
Geesh. Brockers is a jag.
The very abstract fact of being injured says nothing. Some players can play with certain injuries. That in itself is not enough to smear all the rest, who are not as effective with different kinds of injuries.
In 2017 when he moved to DE Brockers he played well at the position.
In 2018 he was not very effective, and recency bias cause some to forget 2017. Was it because of playing hurt? Well it's either that or Wade doesn't get as much as we do about starting DL even though there were options to replace MB, especially since cutting MB had no cap implications and the money gained from cutting him would have paid for any replacement.
So that looks like our choice.
Either Brockers fell off in 2018 quite possibly due to being rendered less effective because of an injury (which is just not an uncommon thing), OR Wade has no idea how to assess DE play and so doesn't even know Brockers is a JAG and so passed on his ample opportunities to replace him.
