So you're saying that if necessary, pay the QB 20%+ of the cap? Good luck.
It's usually 12-15%.
It is rare in the extreme for a qb to get 20+% of the cap and the one example I found, it was a highly front-loaded deal where the percentage goes down in subsequent years.
In 2018, Cousins's contract was 13.5% of the cap.
Garappolo's deal is the highest in 2018--it IS 20%---but it's the only one, and in 2019 it goes down to 10.9% of the cap, which is low by 2nd contract standards. His is the heavily front-loaded deal I mentioned.
But for the majority, and I mean virtually all of them with the one Garappolo exception on a heavily front-loaded deal, it's 12-15%.
